Halloween, Cotswold style

I was so excited about Halloween this year since Sienna would be old enough to understand and participate in it. A few weeks before the big date, I started talking to her about what costume she wanted to wear. We went shopping, but she wouldn't decide, so I found a really cute bumblebee for her. Grandmama gave Sienna a Dora book about Halloween which really helped her to understand what we were going to do. On Monday before Halloween, Sienna declared that she wanted to be a cowgirl for Halloween. She continued to say this each day, of course I wasn't going to by another costume since she probably wouldn't care when it came right down to it.

The night before Halloween we went over to our neighbor's house - Sienna's friend Eva's house. Eva was so excited to show us her costume. It was a mermaid costume!! I looked at Sienna and watched as she lost her mind...my child is completely obsessed with mermaids right now (thanks to Mimi's Dora Mermaid video). She immediately started crying saying that she wanted to be a mermaid. I got out of there as fast as we could! She actually recovered pretty well.

The next day was Halloween, and we were happy to have Mimi and Pops there to celebrate with us. Sienna was excited and willing to wear her bumblebee costume (thank goodness!!) Our neighborhood has a street party before trick-or-treating. Here are some pictures:

When Mimi and I told Sienna out to go trick-or-treating, the bottom dropped and there was torrential rain. Even with the candy-collecting being cut short, my little ray of sunshine came home, opened her bag and said, "I got two pieces of candy!!" She was so excited! Now we just need to get rid of all the candy we didn't give away....
